My Cat's had kittens!

I bought a metal press from Bavarian Beads in November.  First bead I mad with it I added glass to the top edge instant ears... and decided that the bead looked like cat heads and that's all I've made with the press cat head after cat head after cat head.....
The most recent batch of kittens!

A black raku kitty 'torti' with a custom enameled clasp because 2mm findings don't fit 2 mm leather cord!

This might eventually end up on my etsy site but at the moment they are being adopted as fast as mommy kitty can produce them!

Seahorse Tutorial

I was asked to test a seahorse tutorial for Laurie of "glassbead" last week.

These are the first two that I did... I ran out of propane on the one on the left just before it got it's eyes... IT's also a bit on the fat side!  The one on the right needs more contrast in it's stringers!
My second two are much smaller  & I think cuter... actually they are getting smaller every time I make them... I also got lazy with my stringers and only added the ones going round the body then combed them...

She has a really interesting technique to make the tail....  I am improving  (the green glass I used in the 4th one is a really old colour called Mozaic green... in the rod it looks black...I think for  for the tail to work properly the glass should be more transparent!)

But I think these little guys are really cute...Here's a direct link to the tutorial. if you want to try it yourself.

Starving artists Group

Or on Etsy Sateam , if you want to support a group of talented Starving Artists that's what you need to type into your search on Etsy! I found this on their blog a few minutes ago.... The Link if you want to read all of Sateam Sez....

My neighbour really did say this... I'm not sure what she thinks is an appropriate Christmas present, obviously not something that belongs on or under a workbench!

"Fireball Beeds sez: For Christmas I got a piece of paper saying that I could pick myself out a tool box on wheels... I told one of my neighbors that that was what I got and she said I hoped you smacked him for that... I said no I want that... she looked at me like I'd lost what few brains she gives me credit for having.... Oh well... I have a really good selection of tools just nowhere to put them!

New jellyfish bead from me!
SATeam sez: That's a GORGEOUS bead! Your jellyfish looks so real, as if it's really in the ocean.
Obviously not a tool box on wheels!

All wrapped Up

All wrapped Up is the result of me playing with combining more than one piece/type of glass into my electroformed pieces.... I really like the way my large holed lampworked hearts have been turning out, so I thought I'd add a fused frit mask to them. I'm reallypleased with the way this piece turned out!

I'm thinking of making a copper chain maille chain for it... partly because the ring faces the wrong way for it to hang from a chain... so at the very least I have to add a ring... but it I'm making one ring why not make a few hundred....

This piece is currently listed on etsy... Who know when it's chain will show up!
