More spring flowers and my new 'ghost-rope' rug

Found this blooming beside my sign this morning!  My first lupin  of the season, technically mine aren't wild because I grew them from seeds and then transplanted them onto the bank.....
I took a recycled fishing rope rug class Thursday night...  This is mine, wanted black rope but I guess they don't make it anymore so I'll have to look out for 40 + feet of black rope lying around somewhere!
My rug!

More flowers!

Spring Flowers... Real and Imaginary

Yep I think we might have summer... at least a very late spring.  Finally put away my parka, and trying to persuade the plants that have been shivering on my deck for the last month that it's safe to grow again!  My ornamental crab is just starting to bloom....
Enameled Poppies ...

Ornamental Crab.. Think this should have bloomed two weeks ago...

Deer Proof Echinacea
And the Gallery is open most days!

Sailing then & now

Well we won the Roosevelt cup last weekend.. my contribution to sailing is staying out of the Captains way or unhooking the foresail when it gets hooked on the safety line.. sometimes I'm allowed to fetch beer!
A fishing weir,
fog rolling though the cove
and our boat just before we left.

Next weekend Saturday only the gallery will be closed for the Rum Runners Race, the forecast is for thunderstorms again this year which is what we got last year too.

Speaking of the gallery things are very slow here this year as we don't have our private ferry going to Campobello Island.  The ferry that has been going there sank last year just before Christmas and the owner doesn't seem to be trying very hard to get the replacement finished!  SO if you are planning on going to Campobello via Deer Island this summer you can't , however we would love for you to come and spend the day on Deer Island instead!

I also got a bunch of new paintings this week so come check out the gallery walls if your on the island... remember the government ferry from the mainland is FREE and runs every half hour during the day.

Year 2 ~Week Nine: Macro Photo

Oops I just realized I had two week 6's the second one should have been week 8 Oh well I guess counting isn't one of my strong points!

March's theme is checking out... SO....
I walked outside yesterday with my camera heading for my forsythia which I think might have buds? Looked across a yard full of snow and came back in the house and took a picture of my cactus....  then tried to take orchid pictures... but they were shy and immediately started bouncing up and down to avoid the camera focusing on them.....

I can see the little pink wings on the orchid waving at me to go away!  Can't you?

Year2 ~ Week Two: A Silhouette

This isn't a very good picture.. But she's  my favorite subject!
We haven't had a lot of sun this week (actually it's been too cold & windy for Ms. Wimp, to venture outside to take pictures!)

Week 48 ` Giving Thanks

Focus on Life... Only 5 weeks left including today's

Not being an American... this isn't Thanksgiving weekend.. So what did I have to give thanks for this week
The nice Canada Post delivery person showed up with my new computer!

So here is my "computer unpacking -  collage" including a picture of the 'postie's ' car backing up the driveway!
When did computers join the age of disposable commodities?

Week 36... In Two

Focus on life.. in two.. pairs.. couples... duos... twins...

Earrings are what come to mind as a  sometimes jeweller.....
Make a million beads...  sort into pairs
1000000 beads = 7 pairs
And 4 enameled light-house beads...
note the port and starboard designations

OK so none of the million beads ended up in this collage....

And yes knitting needles usually come in pairs too unless I'm knitting in the car where I don't have backups and loose one!

Week - 24 Green

Focus on life ... week 24 Green
I just love Green and purple together....  Lupins grow wild in the ditches here... this one was transplanted by me last year!
This was the view from the deck this week between Tropical storm Andrea and whatever un-named equally windy and rainy storm is dumping on us as I type!

Just thought I'd throw in a collage of my sister and I from my first wedding... My dress was Green silk ... all the lace on the veil and the neck edging on my sisters dress was hand tatted by me...........

Week 19 HOPE

Focus on life week 19... HOPE... it's spring I hope that I have a lovely garden... as you can see my 'spring' flowers are off to a good start... Aren't they lovely!
We also seem to have hit fog season... but when it's not foggy the black flies are out and biting, so do I want my eyes swollen shut or damp cold days....
Since I own a seasonal gallery what I am actually hoping for, is that we will have lovely weather and that lots of tourists will stray onto my island!

Check out Sally's blog to see what other people "hope for!"

Week 18 Abstract Photography

Focus on Life week 18....  Sally suggested that we google abstract photography.. this was my "first hit"...  I'm seeing close up macro I think collaging random shaped chunks of photographs would make a neat abstract photo too... but that's beyond my limited photodestructive capabilities!

So here we go

Palm tree... my goal in life is too live somewhere that palm trees can be grown outside....

But for now I'll have to settle for the indoor variety....

Took quite a few pictures of beads... only to discover that I am a horrible housekeeper and all you could see was dust...

This orchid currently has two flower stocks... the most recent one is a different colour...
Yesterday for a change was totally calm.. so I couldn't resist throwing in a picture I took of one of the government fishing wharves.

I'm not sure if I've actually captured the theme of abstract photography... to see how other people interpreted this weeks prompt check out sally's blog!

Fifth Do over Challenge

I saw this advertised on Artisan Whimsy and decided I needed to try it. Why when I have a drawerful of my own jewellery that I have made for assorted events over the years do I need to aquire someone elses rejects to take apart and rebuild????

The picture on the left is what I got, .... the little picture on the top right are the two little bits of what I received that I didn't use of the necklace and earrings... Since I don't work with gold/brassI I actually had to buy brass wire to remake this. Bottom picture on the right is a close up of  what used to be the tassel & the original chain, now woven with silk... the only brass beads that I owned (now threaded with blue seed beeds) and a torchfired enamel bead that I made for the necklace
I looked at this for a long time beofre I started taking it apart... I actually liked it.... But I signed on to remake it so remake it I did!  I used the tassle chain to lengthen the earrings and make the chain around the back.. I would have like more of the porcelain beads and two of the tassle  cones but....

I think this will be fun to wear.. Love cobalt blue...  the top right picture is where I live....
