Location location location & the big reveal!

This is what the 'black turd on a stick' on the right hand side of yesterday BTW picture became...  The bead is called Ghost Jelly and the lap grinder is still in my dungeon...

And with respect to location location location....  it's not just real estate that that works for!  I own, operate, etc etc a small seasonal gallery on the island I live on....  I have had one pottery vase in the gallery for about 3 years.... it was sitting at the back of a shelf....  I moved it this morning after I sold 3 cordial cups.... the next person through the door bought the vase, maybe they would have seen it in it's former location and  bought it .... who knows.... But it does give me insentive to reorganize things more often!

Almost Wordless Wednesday & Bead Table Wednesday (BTW)

This little guy mistook me for a giant magenta flower earlier this week ... I was standing under it's feeeder and it flew round and round me looking for a place to land!  Must have still figured I was a wlaking flower as it sat there and possed for me quite happily!

Thought it was time for more jellyfish... the one on the right is headed for my lap wheel.... I'm giving it one last chance before it gets flung into the Cove!

A window on my Jellyfish

This is my one of my new jellyfish window beads.... First one of these I tried I didn't have nearly enough clear and I ground off half of the poor jellyfish....

I did another one after this and noticed that there was sort of a line of scratches down one side so I grabbed it to repolish and got this one instead...

Now they both need to be repolished! Since I screwed up this one in my repolish attempt!

The bead is just over and inch in diameter.... and took over an hour to make!

I won again, well actually I came second...

Yes I'm afraid this blog is once again about me and how wonderful I am! Artistry in Glass has a glass bead competition (same one I won the rods in three months ago) every three months. I got 2nd place in the Advanced category ... (I don't know where I belong...) with my Jellyfish bead.. I was beaten by a sea horse, done by on online friend Laurie Ament, from Little Rock, Arkansas ,Here's a link to her etsy store Isinglass Design The gold Sea horse in the picture is not the one she entered in the competition... (I couldn't find a picture of it to 'borrow' for this blog!) What I find so impressive with her work is she does everything on a hot head... I'm sure you have all heard my opinion on those.. I think I can make a 'smoked' spacer in 30 minutes!)

April Fools Day

Today is April fools day...Hope no one plays a prank on you! Here it is bright and sunny and might even turn into a warm day! Yesterday I was in Saint John and woke up to two inches of wet sticky snow... I don't think we got anything but rain here! The snow there was quite unnecessary!

Monday was my husbands 60th Birthday so we went out for dinner, then I stayed in town so that I could drop off a piece for the Saint John Aids Auction (The Jellyfish pendant and earrings on right)
I like going to auctions.. I love bidding things up... and yes I have bought things that I really didn't want.. we own a huge custom made kite... we only flew it once, it panicked the horses in the pasture that we had borrowed to fly it in.... Now G is into 2 line stunt kites... (He has 2 parafoils and one delta wing...) I stick with the basic idiot proof kite and run up and down beaches trying to keep my kite airborne!
Unfortunately I won't be here for that auction, so I'll have to leave it up to Gord to bring home lots of useful things!

More on the blowing my own horn theme!

Yes there is another interview ... You can learn even more about me by going to the Story Beaders blog .

Storybeader makes jewelry but you don't just get a piece of jewelry you also get a poem (haiku) writen specifically about the piece to accompany it! Deb also posts interviews of one 'blogger' every Friday. so scroll back through her Friday archives to learn more about other etsy artists who blog!

(And here's your useless piece of info for the day ....for those of you who don't know where the term blog comes from it's a contraction of the term "Web log".) Yep that's what we are all doing we are writing logs on the web for the world to read....

The Guardian of Balckbeard's treasure has been listed and Scurvy McSkull comes complete with a story too...
Will My beads continue to some with stories... doubt it!

Time to blow my own horn!

This necklace was designed for the Art Bead Scene January challenge. The January challenge was to design a piece of jewellery using the painting Irises by Vincent Van Gogh.... The necklace on the left was my entry. I was picked as designer of the week this week! Here's the blog!

I also have just joined a couple more street teams on etsy... One is the Artisan Beaders Group, one of my favorite beads is one of their feature friday picks, and last but certainly not least one of their members featured me in her blog Simply Shiny .

I'm still having fun making jellyfish beads this is my latest... I was trying to make something vaguely heart shaped and ended up with a perfect (in my opinion!) skull. So in keeping with the skull theme ... It's called Guardian of Blackbeard's Treasure. And will show up on etsy in the next couple of days! Can't you see the eyes nose and teeth ....
