Well since tomorrow is the great reveal.. I thought I should put up a teaser... actually this is the toggle on the neclace hower it's one I made, the one that was sent to me was used elsewhere!
Can't remeber what the first thing I did to the picture was but the final distortion was to place it in a crystal ball! I rather like the effect!

Almost Wordless Wednesday & Bead Table Wednesday (BTW)
To see what's on my bead table... just click here ; although items from my stash have already joined the beads that Ann sent me, but you don't get to see those until the 17th!
OK this is going to be anything but a wordless post! The picture is a 13 inch fused plate of mine that is in my gallery.. and considering that I didn't move the plate the picture is much better than I expected!
Last week I got an invitation to a show in Saskatoon at the Craft Council Gallery call
'Treasures from the private Collections of Fine Craft patrons'
I got the invitiation because I have a piece in the show..
I feel extremely honored to be included, especially since I left Saskatchewan 10 years ago!
Think there are about 45 pieces in the show.
My plate is on page 7 the series is called 'sticks and stones' .
The significance of todays picture/plate is that it's a more recent plate in the series and one I still have access too to photograph!

Starving Jewelry Artist Carnival Blog.... " using other people's work in my Jewellery!"
When I first saw the topic for this month I thought to myself well I don't do that... Sure I buy lots of other peoples beads but I don't use them.... You wouldn't believe the beads that I have in this house! But ... the Monthly Challenge is 'Using Pearls in your Work' I use pearls and I don't make them so I guess I do use other 'creatures' work... Since I'm not sure that I would call a mollusk a 'people'...
Lampwork and coin pearl bracelet
Beaded Bead Pearl balls & sterling chain earrings
A wire wrapped piece I bought in Hawaii that I made a hand knotted pearl 'chain' for

AND my favorite toggles are hill tribe or Bali silver...
although I have started making my own toggles (mainly in copper so far)...
Then there are bead soup parties.... I got these gorgeous sterling leaves in this necklace from Jo of Daisy Chain Jewellery ... Yes I do cut my own rings and make my own chain maille

So yes I guess I do use other 'people's' work to compliment my lampwork beads.... and I use seed beads to make beaded beads.. I just didn't have enough lampwork beads in this house I needed a few drawers of seed beads to keep them happy!
Check out the Starving Jewelry Artists Blog here
And other participants in this Carnival blog will be added as they go live!

Almost Wordless Wednesday & Bead Table Wednesday (BTW)
I noticed a bunch of enameled beads during the Bead Soup Blog hop... and decided I needed some... Originally I was going to buy a bunch of finished beads... but then I thought... I have a torch I even have some enamels... & I've enameled before...I ordered a bunch of things from Barbara Lewis at Painting with Fire.... Mainly beads and super skinny mandrels... In the first order the mandrels were missed so I spent about half an hour a couple of weeks ago belt sanding a 2mm mandrel down to a 1 mm mandrel... so that I could play! You're not seeing the 4 beads I made with that mandrel befor I burnt it... What you are seeing is what I made today with the mandrels that Barbara sent me and the free enamels she sent ... isn't that green transparent enamel a gorgeous colour! And .....The beads are so light...

Bead Soup Tease
OK what's this.... It's my 4th attempt at a seed bead bail... number 1 was abandoned after 3 rows.. number 2 was finished and got an overwhelming UGLY... number 3 was sewn on ... become part of the finished necklace then got the UGLY vote and was cut off number 4 got sewn on to the focal and then I realized that there was no way off putting the pendant onto the 'chain' and I decided it was easier to remake this bail then it was to try and add thread to sew it on ....
My toggle and one of Lisa's felted balls ...
This project was way out of my comfort level, I like glass and wire!
Total panic set in last week when I lost the focal for 3 days... I had actually started to wonder if the disc was coloured steel and had been carried off by my cat.. we have a magnetic cat door.... Searching snow banks was not high on my list of fun activities! Where did I finally find it... inside the couch.

Bead Soup has arrived!
This is the picture that Lisa posted... of what she was sending me... I did have the pearls figured out but made them the wrong colour! Now that I know what everything is I can see some of the beads in that picture!
Lisa used to be a card maker... so I displayed what she sent me on top of the card she included with my goodies.... The felted balls are made by Lisa...

This is the toggle and the focal... I do have ideas but I have 20 days to figure out which of my many ideas is going to work....
And to see what I sent Lisa click on her name!

This was my view out the window while I was photographing the beads... isn't it pretty!

Almost wordless Wednesday

Here's a sneak preview of what I'm sending my bead soup partner, Lisa of Beading Bliss! This was as bad as I could get this picture.. I think most things are actually identifiable... the aim was for a blur of colour!

Bead Soup Time Again

I joined the Bead Soup Party last winter about this time. (There was a summer one which I missed as we were traveling) Last winter I traded beads with Jo from Daisy Chain Jewellery in England. We both mailed them on the deadline for mailing beads.. I got mine in 4 days... she got her beads from me 2 days before the great reveal!
Not sure what I'm sending this year.. I have been busy making focal beads ... I have some that I like, but they all have yellow in them... which as far as I can tell is a Universally disliked colour... by everyone except for me!
There are 210 people playing this round .... that's a lot of adminstration.... I wonder who I will be paired up with....
Above is one of my many yellow beads... this one has become part of a copper necklace... trying to wean myself from using nothing but overpriced silver... the price has to come back down... Don't you think?
