Focus on life... week 17.... Well I love COLOUR !
But in spite of that it was a hard challenge... I initially wanted to photograph a corner in the dining room that has a bunch of Canadian paintings but it also reflects 3 windows which I discovered when I tried to photograph it!
So onto the quilt that we bought last fall in Newfoundland
This has lots of colour... it's actually a king size quilt because the queen size one was pastel blocks and white outlines.... Love it! (The spiders web is top left on an orange block) |
A typical Newfoundland folk art painting... from the grumpy goat gallery... I think it goes perfectly with the quilt and yes it hangs at the foot of the bed. |
After we got home from NL last fall I had to see if I could capture the quilts in beads.. my husband pointed out that all crazy quilts need to have a spiders web.... |

What a great series of photos this week. I love the folk art painting!
ReplyDeleteHa, love it, hubby is pretty smart. So much inspiring colour. I have the first Harry Potter book and I confess I never got into it. I have awful suspended disbelieve skills - I don't do well with fantasy. BUT when little one is old enough I think we will read them together
ReplyDeleteFantastic color in your bedroom! And I LOVE that folk art - that is fantastic ... as is that bead!
ReplyDeleteOh, so much COLOR!! I love it. From the amazingly bright quilt (I want!) to the Harry Potter books, your rooms looks like a cozy and fun place to relax.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt you have on your bed. Love the painting you have hanging on the wall near it.

Way cool - love this quilt!! The colors really are amazing and that painting is fabulous, as is your bead. I had no idea there was a spiders web on the quilt until I read the post,...too fun!!

ReplyDeleteCool idea to make a bead inspired by the quilt. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent captures this week. Love them all - probably I'm most partial towards the HP books, I just love that set (and yes, we have it too - going through volume 4 with my son right now).

ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful and a good choice for showing color. I think it is wonderful that you captured a quilt in a bead. I may have to try that.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful room to wake up in every morning! Your crazy quilt is such fun. And I'm envious of your Harry Potter books.
ReplyDeleteWe have a complete set too, but the American editions all have boring brown covers. :)

I am soooo far behind, but I love this post! Your quilt is lovely, and that painting from Newfoundland is, as you said, so typical. It also reminds me of the hand-hooked rugs they do. In answer to your question on my blog, I'm originally from the interior of BC (Penticton area~18 yrs)then moved to Calgary AB (30 yrs), which I hated. The weather in AB is the worst in Canada I think. Hated it.
