Spain.... Part 1 week one in Barcelona!

Casa Batllo, Barcelona,  This is just about the first building we saw when we emerged from the subway station our first afternoon!
Gord, sampling the local beer, all restaurants had beer taps and most of them dispensed the same beer...  The only thing that changed was the size and shape of glass it was served in!

Casa Mila,  another of Antoni Gaudi's architectural wonders in Barcelona
The Gothic center or old part of Barcelona, this was were we were really warned to hang onto our wallets.. we had no problems, but we met an American tourist  who lost his wallet in the big upscale down town department store !
Just a neat building somewhere in Barcelona.. not sure what the eyeballs are for!
Most of downtown Barcelona is paved with Gaudi's tiles,  rough pavement makes hauling wheeled luggage much more difficult!

I could not live in an apartment that got so little sunlight!
Isn't this slide cute....!
Yep spend 9 hours on a plane to take a picture of Mcdonald's  and no we did not eat there...  I've never seen a McAuto before!
Barcelona's Botanical Gardens....  I was hoping for flowers it was all trees.... the Garden's are built up the side of a mountain ... there was a Bonsai exhibition at the top which was worth the hike even if the gardens were a bit disappointing!
One of the more unusual bonsai entries!
Guell Park... This is a wonderful place to spend half a day! The Mosaic lizard in my lizard post lives here!

These are at Guell Park too...

Gatekeepers cottage at Park Guell
Stained glass in casa Batllo
Rooftop chimney's at casa Batllo

Stained glass inside Sagrada Familia  This church was started in 1882.... and is still a long way from completion!  And there are a lot of windows still waiting for their stained glass!
4 of the many spires on the Sagrada Familia Church & Part of the interior 'ceiling'
Finca Guell... Dragon gate

More pictures from Spain

My husband says this one should be called lost again... which is quite unfair as the only time we weren't where we were suppose to be was the time I asked him which direction a street ran in Barcelona! Somewhere in Gaudi Park...

Same as above! Somewhere in Gaudi Park...

Fountain in the park near the Palace in Barcelona
Mahon, Menorca after the storm......

Somewhere in Mallorca .... I persuaded Gord to rent a motorbike one of the days we were there... He had one when he was 20.. so I figured he should still be able to ride one 40 years later!  Actually some of the roads we were on were so narrow I'm glad we weren't in a rental car... I'm sure they were only 1.25 cars wide! Gord calls this one Space Alien!

All the photos were taken by Gord...  we were away for 27 days ... two days longer than originally booked as we were worried that Air Canada was going to go on strike so we left 2 days early.

Bead Soups here! The Big Reveal!

Welcome to the 4th Bead Soup Party Reveal... there are 362 particpants from 5 continents and 21 countries... that's a lot of soup!
What I Received !

What the necklace looks like on a human, although there are family members that question the fact that I am human!
I took this picture ..it's hard  to keep a  camera flat in a mirror....

The toggle got turned into earrings, since I had another one just like it and it was much to small for the finished necklace

The necklace on a mini mannequin
strand #1 : I used the focal the Czec crystal beads and the kyanite beads, I also used some labradorite beads and some of my lampworked beads, this strand is knotted using cobalt blue stringth....  this is a link to the focal's maker!

strand # 2 is free form peyote using blue nymo thread and  any beads that I thought were even close to the right colour got incorporated into this strand!

strand #3 is kumihimo done with size 11 seed beads on sewing thread  I think strand 3 took somewhere between 24 and 36 hours to do and after I was half done I really thought that one of the threads should have been blue beads .. but there was no way I was starting over!

What my partner Ann did with the beads I sent her is here (#288)

&   here is a list of all the bead soup participants.  (I'm number 23)

Bead Soup Party Teaser

Well since tomorrow is the great reveal.. I thought I should put up a teaser... actually this is the toggle on the neclace hower it's one I made, the one that was sent to me was used elsewhere!

Can't remeber what the first thing I did to the picture was but the final distortion was to place it in a crystal ball!  I rather like the effect!

Genius in residence NOT!

I played around with my blog settings about a week ago.... and ever since then I haven't been getting any comments on my blog ????  So I tested by leaving myself one... that worked but then I deleted it so it looked like I'd been spamed... So I asked Jackie from KYDO (keep your designs original) to leave me a comment... she said she did... There still weren't any comments.... sigh, so then I went looking and guess where I found them? In a file under comments, called 'awaiting moderation'...!

I was under the illusion that I would get an email telling me that I had received a comment.... WRONG  Oh well all is well The 11 lost comments have now been found and published and I have discovered that I also have a spam folder and it is now empty!

And I discovered that I am allowed to leave comments on my own blog without them being moderated... Who would have figured!?

And since all blog posts must have an image... The jellyfish I made to replace Ghost Jelly... THis one is not nearly as stunning ... the original tenticles where fone in green,,, they did not show up ... so I redid them in white, but they are too close to the surface so got polished off!
